When looking for new headsets for your console, you are faced with a large number of different headsets from different manufacturers. HyperX is one of those manufacturers where you can find gaming keyboards and mice as well as headsets.
I have now tested the Cloud Flight Wireless Headset for Playstation 4 and Playstation 5 from HyperX.
Scope of delivery
The scope of delivery of the headset is clear. Everything you need is there. In addition to the wireless headset, you will find the USB wireless adapter, the pluggable microphone and a charging cable.
The paper inserts only contain a quick start guide and warranty information. Here, too, the superfluous is omitted, because the headset is pretty self-explanatory.
Design and processing
The headset makes a high-quality and stable impression. The transitions between the individual parts are fluid and the matte plastic doesn’t look cheap at all. The ear cushions are made of memory foam and are covered with synthetic leather.
On the left side you plug in the headset and can charge the headset. The power button is also located here. To mute the microphone, you can also press against the plastic side of the ear pads on this side. On the right is the volume control.
The design is simple. The headset is mainly black. The lettering “HyperX” is located on top of the bracket, the HyperX logo can be found on the left and right, which lights up in blue when the device is in use. Furthermore, you can see two cables on the left and right, which represent a small accent in their blue.
The ease of use
As detailed above, the headset is pretty much self-explanatory. You plug the USB adapter into your Playstation 4 or Playstation 5, switch on the headset and you are immediately connected. You don’t have to do more to get started, you can of course adjust the sound settings in the console.
The battery life
HyperX advertises the long battery life of their headset. The packaging advertises a lifespan of up to 30 hours, although this of course depends on use. If you play continuously at the highest volume, the runtime is of course reduced. I can confirm that myself. After the first charge, I was able to use the headset for about 28 hours before it needed to be recharged.
How does the headset feel?
The Cloud Flight Wireless Headset is very easy to wear over a longer period of time. The ear pads are very comfortable on the ears and the headset isn’t too tight like some other products. As usual, you can also adjust the size if necessary. Long gaming sessions are no problem with the Cloud Flight Wireless. What is still positive to emphasize is the noise isolation. You can fully immerse yourself in the game without feeling disturbed. The same goes for music, of course!
The Sound
The most important thing in a headset is of course the sound! The Cloud Flight Wireless Headset cuts a very good figure here with its built-in 50 mm driver. The sound is crystal clear and I had no problems with the wireless connection dropping during use. The spatial representation of the sound was also implemented very well here. I tested the headset with the game Overwatch. Here it is often important to localize noise sources. I was able to do that with the Cloud Flight Wireless without any problems.
The game Persona 3 – Dancing in Moonlight, which as a rhythm game is very music-heavy, could be enjoyed to the fullest with the headset.
The detachable microphone also does exactly what it is supposed to. My playing partners have confirmed to me that my voice is transmitted cleanly and without background noise and that there are no interruptions here either.
Conclusion
I am very satisfied with the device and can give a clear purchase recommendation for the HyperX Cloud Flight Wireless Headset if it falls within the budget of what you want to spend on a headset for your Playstation 4 or 5. It currently costs just under 124 euros at Amazon.de. In return, you are offered a headset with high wearing comfort, long battery life and great sound.
